FAQ Categories:

Log On

Company Password:

Q: I used to have to enter only a single password, but now the log on function requests a company name and password, as well. Why?

A: Your company has activated the WebFunnel for multi-company operation, allowing selected distributors to access and update their own information. Please contact your manager to obtain your company name and password.

Display Parameters

Row Color:

Q: How do I set the row colors to be displayed as a function of Forecast Flag instead of Percent Probability?

A: This function is controlled in the file fun.inc. Please change the parameter funnelcolor from 0 (default) to 1.

Columns Control:

Q: There are too many columns in the Funnel Tables forcing me to scroll horizontally. How can I can hide the columns that I am not interested in?

A: Each user can select the columns that he wants to see. This function is available by clicking on the Columns icon.

Styling Parameters:

Q: We would like to change the default color schemes of the WebFunnel. How is this done?

A: In the WebFunnel, styling parameters like text font, size, font color, background color and many more, are controlled in Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) documents. Your system manager can edit these documents to create the styling that you prefer.

Customer Events

Event Details:

Q: When I create a customer event, is it mandatory to enter event details?

A: No, the event details are optional. You can quickly create a short event by simply entering an event title, like 'Left Message for John'. In most cases, entering a short event is better than having no record at all of the customer interaction.

Modify Events:

Q: Sometimes I can modify events while at other times the program will not let me. Why?

A: The author of an event can modify it during the same day that it was created. In order to preserve an accurate picture of the past, you cannot change events in the past. Please also note that Email Trail Events cannot be changed at all, since they capture a direct interaction with a client.

Hyperlinks:

Q: How do I enter hyperlinks into events?

A: The WebFunnel supports explicit and implicit hyperlinks. Implicit hyperlinks are common Internet links like http and email references, which are automatically encoded as hyperlinks. You can also define explicit hyperlink by filling out the Link URL and Link Name fields. This is useful to reference resources, which are not standard Internet links, like Word™ and Excel™ documents.

Tasks

To Do List:

Q: Project related Tasks are very useful to guide the sales activities towards a close. Can I also create private To Do Lists?

A: Yes, create a General Task (which is not Project related) and assign it to yourself. Only you will have access to Tasks defined in this manner, so you can include non-work related items like 'Pick up laundry', etc.

Graphs and Charts

Graphs Not Displayed in Browser:

Q: My colleagues can view the SVG Graphs and Charts, but they do not display in my browser. What can I do?

A: In order to see the SVG Graphs and Charts, you must install the SVG Plug-In from Adobe. Please go to Adobe's SVG Zone.

Graphs Not Displayed on New Server:

Q: We recently moved our WebFunnel installation to a new server, but now the SVG Graphs and Charts are no longer displayed. What happened?

A: If no user can view the SVG Graphs and Charts, most likely the new server is not configured to support the SVG Mime Type. This can normally be activated in minutes. Please check with your server administrator.

Digital Dashboard

Styling Control:

Q: I love the Digital Dashboard, but I do not like your default color scheme. Can this be changed?

A: Yes, the styling properties are controlled in the svg.css document, where you can change the color scheme. We recommend that you do not change the font settings, since the exact positioning of the speedometer labels would be affected.

No Filters:

Q: With the normal charts and graphs, I can use the standard filters to view the information that is relevant to me. I cannot make the filters work on the Digital Dashboard.

A: This behavior is by design. The intent of the Digital Dashboard is to provide an executive overview, regardless of your current filter settings.

Label Control

Percent Probability:

Q: When an Account Manager updates an opportunity, we want him to choose from predefined funnel stages like 'Budget', 'Verbal', etc, rather than the percent probability from 0 to 100%. Can this be done?

A: The WebFunnel Administrative Manager can define the text values for the percent probability options on the Setup page. For clarity, some companies combine percent values with a text definition: 'Budget [40%]', 'Verbal [80%]', etc.

Forecast Flag:

Q: I am the Sales Manager for our company and I want to change the Forecast Flag values. How is this done.

A: Only the Administrative Manager can change the Forecast Flags. This is done in the same way as for the Percent Probability values.

Text Strings:

Q: On our system, the Funnel Tables show 'Fcst' for the Forecast Flag, but when I look at the Column Control and Advanced Filter Pages, the same field is referred to as 'Forecast'. Why?

A: The Administrative Manager can define both short and long labels for a number of fields. In this way, you can use a shorter definition where the screen real estate is limited. If you prefer, you can of course define exactly the same label for both the short and long label.

Email Automation

Email Missing:

Q: I want to create an event and automatically send it as an email to a customer, but I see no fields where I can enter the email information. Yet, my colleagues can send emails without problem. Why?

A: The email function is hidden if you do not have an email address entered in your user profile. Please ask your Administrative Manager to enter your email address and you should be able to send emails.

Import Emails:

Q: My colleagues can import emails by clicking the Import Email function on the Create Event page, but I do not even have this option. Why?

A: The Import Email function is only available if you have Microsoft Outlook installed and opened. If you are running Outlook Express, emails are imported by a drag-and-drop operation instead.

Email Problem on New Server:

Q: We have enjoyed the email automation feature of the WebFunnel, but when we moved to a new server, the email no longer works. All program files remain the same. How can we fix this?

A: Microsoft's CDONTS API is not longer automatically included in new servers. To rectify this problem, you can manually install the required DLL, or you can make use of the CDO API instead. The WebFunnel supports both API's, but you have to change the mysmtpconfiguration value to 1 in the mylogon.asp file if you decide to use the CDO API instead.

Email Priority Missing:

Q: I am successfully sending email messages with the WebFunnel, but I cannot change the email priority to High or Low. What is happening?

A: If you are using the CDO API, email priorities may not be handled properly. A patch upgrade may be necessary. For more information, please see this Microsoft Support Page.

Email Abuse:

Q: Is there not a risk that your customers abuse the email automation for spamming purposes?

A: Well, that's up to you, the customers. WebFunnel is a tool, and like other tools, it should be used responsibly. Advanced anti-spamming engines can obviously detect that the emails are sent in an automated fashion, so be on your very best behavior!

Currency Format

Quebec Dollar Format:

Q: Why do I have to see all dollar values in U.S. format? Here in Quebec, we put the dollar sign after the amount. Merci.

A: Your Adminstrative Manager can define different currency formats, including the option to place the currency symbol after the amount. He can also specify thousand and decimal separators to meet your requirements. Note that the currency preferences are managed at the individual level, so if you have colleagues in other provinces or states, they can view the dollar values in the traditional way.

Euro Symbol:

Q: Does the WebFunnel support the Euro Symbol (), and if so, how should that be specified?

A: Yes, you can use as your currency symbol. Your System Administrator can add this symbol to the currency definition list. The euro symbol can be entered as a single character, or you can use the escape sequence €. The WebFunnel currently does not support the escape sequence €.

Q: If I enter as text in a new event, the symbol is not displayed. Why?

A: The database actually stores the Euro symbol correcly when you save a new event, but the WebFunnel does not currently escape this symbol in text fields. Until such time that we implement this feature, please escape the Euro manually with the sequence €.

Foreign Languages

European Language Support:

Q: We are interested in purchasing the WebFunnel, but our employees are not comfortable with English. Is there an option for us?

A: Yes, you can quickly define your own language strings in an XML document. Labels, text strings and prompts will then be displayed in your local language.

Multi-Language Operation:

Q: We have an unusual request due to the international character of our company. Most employees are fine with the English language, but some people would prefer Spanish. Can this be accomplished?

A: The WebFunnel supports language definitions on a per user basis. Thus, multiple languages can be used, even as you share a single sales database.

.NET Support

.NET Timing

Q: Are you planning to release the WebFunnel on the .NET platform?

A: Our timing for the .NET platform depends on customer demand. At this point in time, we are getting relatively few requests for .NET support. That may change over time, as the .NET platform starts to mature. If you have a comment regarding .NET, please contact us via email or fill out the customer form below.
